SCGIS 2017 Proceedings Final (2017 main)

d

This is our third attempt to assemble the full content of every paper presented, and to also film and photograph every presentation. For the first time we are giving each speaker their own dedicated page so you can easily link to it from your SCGIS profile or other profiiles you might have, and we are linking your page back to your SCGIS members profile. We'd like to request your review of your page as soon as you can. We need to finish review by Sunday Sept 17th.

1. The main problem is that we are missing a number of presentations, and for the rest we needed to convert them to PDF and in that process we tried to include your notes as much as possible, so we need you to check your PDF and see if that's ok. Notes are very important because the primary audience we mean to help with these proceedings are all the conservation GIS folks struggling along in other countries where information and resources are scarce. Despite our best efforts, the audio on these films is not great. If you are a native english speaker you can follow along, but if not it's often difficult to follow the narrative. I've heard many times that our international members really appreciate being able to read along with the PDF and the Notes to help them follow the presentation. (Most international folks can read english better than they speak it). IF you need to make changes you can send an updated PPT to consmap@gmail.com, and if you make your own PDF please be sure to use the "Notes Pages" output format.

2. Various other things are missing on some pages such as abstracts, titles, please email these to consmap@gmail.com

3. OPTIONAL Links: We want to be able to link each page to your SCGIS profile but some of your are not members. Please join if you can and email me your member profile link. If you decide not to join (why would anyone do that?) please email me a link to your professional profile page that you'd like to use. We might also be able to add additional links to your other projects or published work if you wish to include these on your speaker page, send them to consmap@gmail.com

4. UNLISTEDS: Several people asked not to have their presentation published, and a few said they needed more time to get publishing approval. I think I have accounted for all of these. If you see your presentation and do not want to have it published, or some part of it not published (such as the pdf), please let me know at consmap@gmail.com.

We'd like to make the proceedings avaliable to our board for a final review by Sept 18th, so if possible please reply by Sunday Sept 17th. These proceedings also play an important role in helping us talk to donors to help fund next year's conference, so your help is deeply appreciated.

The SCGIS Board and Conference Committee would again like to thank all our presenters, willing to share their talks with the wider SCGIS Community. It is our international members who constantly remind us of the global scope of our struggle and the importance of sharing what we know with those working in conditions where skills and knowledge are harder to come by.

Bold letters in brown below, ie PPT, are brief codes for the main things missing with each entry.
