SCGIS 2017 Int'l Scholars Application Page (2017 main)

NEW: Applicant review status updated to March 3

Program Dates Finalized: Jun 15-Jul 19, 2017. Please see below for a detailed day-by-day calendar of the 2017 Scholar Program and activities. The application ver9 includes these date changes.

Our 2017 Program received formal core funding Dec 9th, thanks to Esri! We have not been able to get the additional funding needed for a separate advanced scholars program in Redlands, so a new revised application form, version 2, is now posted with this seperate advanced training option removed. The current plan is to focus on the core training program for 2017 and keep trying to find the funding to launch our advanced program in 2018. In the meantime, we will soon be launching a new webpage devoted to basic and advanced conservation GIS training options, both offline and online, that have recently become available at no charge for SCGIS worldwide members.

he 2017 program is LIVE! Our 2017 program will have many changes and new options so look for upcoming announcements from your local SCGIS Chapter or Mentor. This page will also provide supplementary material and additional resources as needed

SCGIS 2017 Scholar Program Frequently Asked Questions:

Deadlines: are set independently by each chapter/mentor/reviewer but generally speaking applicant deadlines will be between Dec15 and Dec 30, 2016 for the EFN "early decision" funding, and between Jan 1 and Jan 30, 2017 for the standard funding.

Can I apply to BOTH the new EFN program funding and the traditional program? ABSOLUTELY! EFN is just an earlier deadline, for the specific list of countries listed in the application form. If you are in one of those countries and you get your application returned in time for the "EARLY DECISION - EFN" deadline then you are automatically applied to both EFN and Standard programs

Backup Email Addresses for questions: Your chapter or mentor are the primary place to go for questions as they are running the spplications process in each region. If however you are not able to get your questions answered from them you can contact Mervyn Lotter, mlotter@scgis.org, or Abu Diyan: mdiyan@scgis.org . ..or SCGIS Int'l Committee email; ecp2@esri.com
